The artist, whose name is not mentioned in the text, was born in an unknown year and place. He began his studies with Ramón Moliné and published caricatures under the pseudonym Patufet. He then traveled to Italy, where he lived for the rest of his life. He studied at the Accademia Chigi in Rome and joined the circle of Catalan painters who lived there. 

He specialized in orientalist scenes, historicism, and landscapes. He established himself in the official historicist genre during the 1880s.
